COLEUS FORSKOHLII

Plectranthus barbatus, or more commonly known as Coleus forskohlii and Indian Coleus (Kikuyu: Maigoya), is a tropical perennial plant related to the typical coleus species. It is interesting from a scientific and medicinal standpoint because it produces forskolin.

ASHWAGANDHA

Withania somnifera, known commonly as ashwagandha, Indian ginseng, poison gooseberry, or winter cherry, is a plant in the Solanaceae or nightshade family. Several other species in the genus Withania are morphologically similar.It is used as an herb in Ayurvedic medicine.

ROSEMARY

Rosmarinus officinalis, commonly known as rosemary, is a woody, perennial herb with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves and white, pink, purple, or blue flowers, native to the Mediterranean region. It is a member of the mint family Lamiaceae.It is used as a decorative plant in gardens and has many culinary and medical uses.

PEPPERMINT

Peppermint (Mentha × piperita, also known as M. balsamea Willd.) is a hybrid mint, a cross between watermint and spearmint. The plant, indigenous to Europe, is now widespread in cultivation throughout all regions of the world. It is found wild occasionally with its parent species.

 

Peppermint is commonly used to soothe or treat symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, indigestion, irritable bowel, and bloating. It is also used in aroma therapy.

LEMON GRASS

Cymbopogon (lemongrass) is a genus of about 55 species of grasses, (of which the type species is Cymbopogon citratus, a natural and soft teaanxiolytic) native to warm temperate and tropical regions of the Old World and Oceania. It is a tall perennial grass.​

 

The principal chemical constituents of citronella, geraniol and citronellol, are antiseptics, hence their use in household disinfectants and soaps. Besides oil production, citronella grass is also used for culinary purposes, in tea and as a flavoring.

MELISSA

Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis), also known as balm or balm mint and not to be confused with bee balm (which is genus Monarda), is a perennialherb in the mint family Lamiaceae, native to center-southern Europe and the Mediterranean region.

 

Lemon balm essential oil is very popular in aromatherapy. The essential oil is commonly co-distilled with lemon oil, citronella oil, or other oils.

TURMERIC

Turmeric (Curcuma longa) is a rhizomatous herbaceous perennial plant of the ginger family, Zingiberaceae.It is native to tropical South Asia and needs temperatures between 20°C and 30°C (68°F and 86°F) and a considerable amount of annual rainfall to thrive.

 

The active compound curcumin is believed to have a wide range of biological effects including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antitumour, antibacterial, and antiviral activities, which indicate potential in veterinary and clinical medicine. In Chinese medicine, it is used for treatment of various infections and as an antiseptic.

BLACK PEPPER

Black pepper (Piper nigrum) is a flowering vine in the family Piperaceae, cultivated for its fruit, which is usually dried and used as a spice and seasoning. 

 

Black pepper is native to south India, and is extensively cultivated there and elsewhere in tropical regions.

 

Dried ground pepper has been used since antiquity for both its flavor and as a medicine. Black pepper is the world's most traded spice.The spiciness of black pepper is due to the chemical piperine.It is ubiquitous in the modern world as a seasoning, and is often paired with salt.

RED CHILLIES

The chili also chile pepper or chilli pepper, from Nahuatl chīlli is the fruitof plants from the genus Capsicum, members of the nightshade family, Solanaceae.

 

The substances that give chili peppers their intensity when ingested or applied topically are capsaicin (8-methyl-N-vanillyl-6-nonenamide) and several related chemicals, collectively called capsaicinoids.India is the world's largest producer, consumer and exporter of chili peppers.

MAIZE

Maize and cornmeal (ground dried maize) constitute a staple food in many regions of the world. Starch from maize can also be made into plastics, fabrics, adhesives, and many other chemical products. Maize is increasingly used as a feedstock for the production of ethanol fuel and for biogas plants.

HONEY

Honey is a sweet food made by bees using nectar from flowers. Honey bees transform nectar into honey by a process of regurgitation and evaporation. They store it as a primary food source in wax honeycombs inside the beehive. 

 

Honey gets its sweetness from the monosaccharides fructose and glucose, and has approximately the same relative sweetness as granulated sugar.Honey has had a long history in human consumption, and is used in various foods and beverages as a sweetener and flavoring.

In culinary terms, a vegetable is an edible plant or its part, intended for cooking or eating raw.In biological terms, "vegetable" designates members of the plant kingdom.
